QYT offers drama workshops to local Quaker Meetings.

• Do you have children and young people in your meeting who would enjoy a fun and astimulating drama based event?
• Would they benefit form using drama to explore issues relevant to them, Quakerism and the world?
• Would you like to attract more young people to an upcoming Monthly Meeting or General Meeting residential with a fun and interesting drama workshop?

QYT offers drama workshops to Quaker meetings, monthly meetings, and local youth groups.  The workshops are led by two or more trained QYT members & leaders, the number depending on the number of participants.  All are aged between 16-30 years. 

The workshops can be for a day or a residential weekend. The workshops are mainly for young people although we do offer some suitable for all ages - call us to discuss your needs.  The group booking the workshop can choose from several themes:

• Quaker History and Young Friends Today: Look back in time at early Quakers and explore our faith and spirituality today.
• Relationships and Friendships: Explore friends and friendship and the important relationships on our lives.
• Images, Individuality and Identity: Who am I? What do I think about other people? What stereotypes do we have?
• Enviromental Awareness: Why is the planet important? What harms it? What can we do to make a change?
• Deaf awareness: Learn finger spelling and basic sign language and use drama to explore barriers faced by those with hearing impairments or total hearing loss.
• The Drama Games Day: A day of fun drama games, giving young people a chance to learn about acting and have fun together.

As well as the facilitators the Quaker Youth Theatre will provide all of the adminstration and publicity leaflets and posters to help advertise the event. The meeting needs to provide a large room with chairs and access to toilets, and home hospitatlity for the leaders of the workshop, if required, the night before.

Some of our workshops have been used to start up a monthly meeting Link group. We also offer workshops to outside groups which have included the Student Christian Movement, Birmingham Festival of Arts, Music and Entertainments, deaf youth clubs in the West Midlands, and the Jennie Lee Centre in Wolverhampton.
