Since it began as a street theatre project at Yearly Meeting in 1978 the Quaker Youth Theatre has produced a variety of projects. Each summer we have offered a two week residential music theatre production. Each play is commissioned for QYT and specially written for a large cast with a range of abilities and experience. These musicals have had a range of themes from Quaker History to contemporary environmental protests.

Theatre-Go-Rounds are children's shows devised by participants on youth exchange projects with the shows touring to local housing estates, play schemes, and community centres. Theatre-Go-Rounds have been staged in Derry, Northern Ireland; Riga, East Germany; and Transylvania, Romania.

More recently QYT has adopted DramaQuest a Quaker pilgrimage and drama weekend for those aged 12-16 years. We also offer an annual Deaf-Hearing drama weekend, and variety of training events.

All past projects are evaluated and reports written by the participants are published in our newsletter, Leavenings, which is printed twice a year. See the Publications List.
