In 2000 the Choral and Chamber Music Weekend moved up north to Glenthorne Quaker Guest House in Cumbria. Tina Helfrich was there:

"Why did I get such a lovely room?"; was the most common initial remark as members booked into Glenthorne for our February weekend.  As I hadn't seen any of the rooms before, I assured them there were no special bookings, just generally high quality rooms due to Glenthorne's recent refurbishment.

Having established a tradition of regular choral and chamber music weekends, this year we took the choir and quartets north to the Lake District, with the choral repertoire appropriately including a setting of Mary Coleridge's The Blue Bird and Elgar's The Shower. In addition to new northern members we welcomed new singers from Derbyshire and Surrey!

Waking up to a snowscape on Saturday morning just added to the glorious scenery, and the fact it had changed to rain by the afternoon freetime did not deter many from their planned hill walks.

The choir and instrumentalists joined forces on Sunday morning under Roger Moon's direction to perform selections from Vivaldi's Gloria to our rather select audience of spouses and staff.

The universal recommendation on the evaluations was, "Don't change a thing!"
