The Nayler Passion A residential Quaker Music Making project.
For experienced singers aged 14+ 28th October - 3rd November 2013. Bilberry Hill Centre, Birmingham.
The Nayler Passion explores the spiritual and political turmoil in the life of James Nayler, the Quaker who provoked a religious scandal and political crisis by re-enacting Christs entry into Jerusalem. Written for choir and piano, this emotive and inspiring cantata charts the grief, joy, agony and hope of Naylers experience. This seven day project will focus on rehearsing The Nayler Passion, creating a community of singers who will share meals, worship and social time alongside developing as musicians. The music has been written to be accessible whilst still providing a challenge, and rehearsals will be lead by composer Mark Russ. No previous experience of The Leaveners is necessary!
