As an independant Quaker charity the Leaveners raises funds through schemes for individual donors, and applications to grant-making trusts and statutory organisations. We rely heavily on donations from generous individuals and local Quaker meetings. There are a number of ways in which you can support our work. Whether their donations come as a pledge, cheque or postal order, every donor is important to us.
Charities Aid Foundation Account Donations:
If you
have an existing account with the Charities Aid Foundation
(CAF) you can use this to make single or recurring donations
to the Leaveners by:
Quaker Schedule of Giving:
You can designate the
Leaveners on your Schedule of Giving to the Religious
Society of Friends. The Treasurer of your Meeting will then
send us your donation when they distribute the earmarked
donations from your Peparative or Monthly Meeting.
Gift Aid:
If you pay basic rate tax then we can
claim tax back on any donation that you make to the
Leaveners. We can only claim back if you have paid
sufficinet UK income tax equal to the annual amount of the
claim. Please contact us for more
information and a Gift Aid form.
Give as You Earn:
Does your employer have a GYE
scheme? If so you can give to the Leaveners and claim tax
relief from your donation. The Government will give us an
additional 10% of any donation make through Give as You
Earn.
Friends of the Leaveners are over 400 individuals and Quaker meetings who help underwrite our work by making annual donations.
Some Friends of the Leaveners have been supporting us since 1978 and some have just joined this year. But no matter how long they've been one of our Friends we are keen to make it a long term relationship.
A smaller number of our donors are Angels - small
investors who help make new projects possible. Our angels
pledge to give £150 per year.
Anyone able to pledge
£250 per year becomes one of our Guardian Angels.
In 2001 we launched the Leaveners' Valiant Sixty. The
Valiant Sixty was the name given to the first Quaker
missionaries, the men and women of the north country who were
convinced by George Fox in 1652 and who took the message of
Quakerism out into the world.
350 years on the Leaveners
are appealing for a Valiant Sixty supporters. Friends,
Quaker Meetings and Quaker trusts that are able to pledge 500
per year for the next four years giving us the security to
enable us to extend our work with the Religious Society of
Friends.
Friends of Leaveners, Angels, Guardian Angels and the Valiant Sixty all support our work with children, young people and adults by underwriting the costs of our small staff team and office. This means that we are able to keep our project fees affordable as we do not need to pass these core costs onto the projects.
For information about joining Friends of The Leaveners or The aliant Sixty please contact Jayne Baylie telephone: 0121 414 0099 or email her at: jayne@leaveners.org
Local Quaker Meetings can also make donations to the Leaveners.
Annual Subscription:
Some Meetings send us an
annual subscription. These vary from 25 to 500 or more per
year depending on the size of the individual Preparative or
Monthly Meeting. If these are pledged for a number of years
it helps us with future planning.
Collections:
Some Meetings include us in their
annual schedule of collections. Even the smallest
collection helps.
One-off Appeals:
Occasionally Meetings hold a
one-off appeal to help support our work.
Support from us:
No matter which method you
persue to raise funds the Leaveners will gladly prvide you
with leaflets, display materials or a speaker to support
your efforts.
If you can't afford to send a donation, then we are also grateful for your assistance in telling anyone who might be interested about our projects, and your prayers for the success of our continuing work.
